Rare sighting

There is a big bright round thing in the sky today, and pleasantly warm for the time of year.

Off out for a bimble on the Him shortly - only the 3rd ride of 2026.

Raining tomorrow I expect.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Raining here. Just had to clean my rear camera after the dirt collected on the lens driving from Shepton.
Soon be dry enough for my ride.

Three more than me, Andy.

Might get out next month, salt accumulations permitting. Went out in the car today looking at helmets & then on to a local bike meeting spot (Squires at Sherburn-in-Elmet) for lunch. Plenty of bikes out & temps up to 14C but, despite the amount of rain we have had of late, there were still pink & white salt indications about & loads of mud.

Got out for a good ride to scrub in new tyres within the limits imposed by pothole riddled roads, gravel, agricultural mud and leftover flood water.

There are some stretches of B road in south Norfolk where you can excercise your bike's ponies a bit. I did this afternoon

Ride done

Had a decent ride - took in a few back lanes so the poor old Him is covered in sh*t.

Not a bad ride, 40 odd miles but deceptively cold despite that big shiny round thing !!

Who needs a signature anyway......

Did a couple of hours on lovely dry roads and occasional sun. The Moto Hub had a 1966 Sunbeam Rapier calling in. My mum and dad drove us all down to the south of Italy in one around 1966. Ran perfectly there and back. Happy Daze.

I had a 1961 Rapier convertible 1600 and twin carbs. That would indicate 100mph and looked fantastic but sadly, threw a con rod so it was cut up. White with a red stripe and the skinny 15 inch wheels

I had a 1956/7 Rapier Mk.1, 1390cc, column change, 4 speed plus overdrive, absolutely loved it. Rallied it when I was in the RAF against other RAF stations, went extremely well, though not very hurried when accelerating.
However, typical Roots Group car of the time, absolute rust bucket, spent most weekends patching it up and spraying to hold the rust at bay.
Did many thousands of miles though, including up to Scotland and down to the West Country.
Saw one advertised recently that had been converted to disc brakes, floor change, up-graded engine (still 1390cc), full upholstry re-furb, asking for £20,000. Doubt he achieved it.
