H2 Registration....

Heard back from DVLA, they need a "vehicle inspector" to take a look at in and compile a report before they will issue a Reg No.

They provide the "inspector" hope it is not a Blakey type of inspector.

Never had to have this before. Ah well the person is coming on Friday.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Wonder how much of an expert on bikes he or she will be?

Not holding out much hope as when they called to make the appointment to visit me they asked where the car would be, despite them knowing they were coming to see a Kawasaki, ho hum.....

Could be in my favour, but then might not, lets see what happens.

Andy C Nothing to worry about, inspector (from an agency) will only want to see frame and engine numbers, wont be concerned about the mechanics of the bike.

I had one , about 6-7 yrs ago on an old unregistered ke125

the guy is actually an insurance assessor , he told me he had been out to look at 2 fraudulent insurance claims the same day

his job is "eyes on the bike" , in my case when I applied I had to include 6 pics , front . sides back and numbers , he was there checking that I was not telling porkie pies , he had copies of my pics

the guy was knolagable ,he could spot a "ringer" at 500 yds , he spotted wrong rear light , no probs

prior to DVLA shutting all there branches , people had to trailer cars and bikes to be inspected , now because they closed , its cheaper to hire examiner for an hour

in my case the guy was good , he emailed m
e just after tea , told me everything was good with dvla , and my new number was ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Great news, should not be any issues then.

Bike is 100% original bar the rev counter which has the red line at 8,500 instead of 7,500 it will be interesting if they spot that, and the tank decals which are purple background instead of red.

Everything else is as it should be.

It will pass. My Triumph had chopper forks when it was re-imported. About 12 inches longer than original and as it was in Plymouth, it got a Plymouth numberplate. They were issuing a lot of VOD letters for 1971 cars and bikes. I often see vehicles just a little bit either side of mine.

Andy I have taken customers bike for this and all they did check was check frame and engine number.

Funny you should say that. I took a Thruxton Venom and it turned out to have the wrong frame number so owner ended up with a venom thruxton look a like. If only he had checked before it was inspected and he could have re stamped the frame. Very expensive cock up for my customer.

Hopefully everything will check out OK with the H2, certainly the Engine No is right for the year. Frame No is on a stick on label on the headstock - looks to be the original one.

Both numbers tally with the title that came with the bike.

Sure that everything will be OK.
