Maybe I’m missing a point but this ship was under a refitting at the time it was required because Mr Trump decided to go to war. He didn’t say he needed us as far as I recall and honestly I believe the workers who worked day and night to get it put back together and fully operational worked wonders as far as I am concerned. Would you really expect our leaders to send the ship to sea totally unworthy of the task. We owe it to the men on board to take all the care it needs to do the best job they can, not go to sea totally unprepared for what might come their way.

No offence meant to that ship or its crew Den. Just the pathetic state of our navy in general when they have not got enough ships, and certainly can’t crew them all at once, to provide any sort of defence.

They did say on the News that there were 4 minesweepers in that area but after a few years, they were withdrawn.
At least i have enough engine oil in the garage to last my lifetime and some more for anyone who clears the garage out.

It’s certainly in a state David, one aircraft carrier in for maintenance and the other on its way to Antarctica or the Artic I believe.

They are in Portsmouth preparing Victory and Warrior now. Don't hang around any local bars as press gangs are out and about

Not to put too fine a point on it, but back when you had press gangs, you guys owned most of the known world, and had a navy to back it up.

I think that the yobs today that hang around crowds looking to slit pockets and steal cars would be much improved by being press-ganged into the engine room of a frigate to oil the engines ...

USA is great at achieving things today. Not quite so good at planning what to do next week, as numerous Middle Eastern f*ck-ups have shown. Trump is the bloke who throws a party but doesn't tell anyone, then whines when he finds out that everyone he hoped would come were too busy having fun elsewhere. A situation which would be laughable if the long-term consequences didn't look so dire for the world. Well done Donald, you've finally and incontrovertibly proved your critics (of which I was never one, until now) correct.

Plus one for that. He’s never going to get the ordinary man in Iran to rise up against the current mob. They’re like bowling pins, knock one down another pops up. Better to say he’s completed his mission (supposedly to destroy the nuclear facility not the whole Country!) and go home. No one will believe him but it will save all of us a lot of grief.
