Rocket 111

Moved it on to one of the boys Today. Its now in his garage and all panels are coming off and replace with the blue/silver ones on his old R111 that has a failed gearbox. Then we break up the faulty bike for spares and sell it off. i would imagine the parts will sell for about 2.5k as many are not obtainable now. Poor boy pulled away and near crapped his pants. He forgot just how hard these 2.3 litre engines pull away with 0-60 in about 3 seconds if you want to. At least i know where it went after owning it for 10 years and 13,000 miles. Now i have a BSA coming next week. A Spitfire from California with 10,000 miles. Not mine though as its another one the boy bought this week with his pension fund payout. Looks brand new but i have to go over it as not run for a couple of years. It has Amal GP carbs which will be sold on and Amal premier 32mm ones instead. The GP carbs are not practical for running around as no tickover setting . They sell for about 700 pound as used carbs. Hopefully it will be a left and right pair which will be higher priced. It was 1 year only on the Spitfire for 1966. My 67 model has 32mm concentrics as standard

Good to know it has gone to a good home.
Breaking the faulty bike will probably take a while.
Good luck sorting out the Spitfire.Who needs a signature anyway......

The 2010 bike was in as new condition so the parts should sell well. Its fault was jumping across gears when on the road so it would jump 4th down to 3rd and generally do what it wanted. I expect a selector broke but costs at a dealer were more than the bike as it takes 3 men to lift the bike off the engine and a small crane. Might sell the engine complete as it was still running well
