Jeff Smith MBE

I notice the great scrambler Jeff Smith died a few days ago. Used to watch scrambles on TV in the 60s with these super heroes on old BSA singles. My Dad would not miss scrambles on TV back then. Jeff was 91 so the fumes did not get him

One of the best used to go and see him at a big scrambles track near Farnborough happy days

One of the best. Used to follow scrambles all over the south of england during the sixties and early seventies. Great days with the likes of Smithy, the Rickman brothers, the Lampkins, Vic Eastwood, John Banks, Dave Bickers and many more. Even had a go myself, enjoyed it but just not good enough.

Used to watch him when they started showing scrambling in the 60's on black and white tv

Double World champion on the BSA 500s. I used to like the sound of those 4 stroke singles when i watched at about age 11. Tiny black and white TV until we did get a larger one and with 2 channels.
He lived out his life in Wisconsin up to his death

I met him when he came over here for the 2014 BSAOC International Rally.

Easy to talk to, down to earth guy with an amazing record of wins in competition.

I'm glad I had the chance to meet him and talk to him.
