About 20 years ago, the Exeter classic motorcycle club would donate the entry money from the Dartmoor run to a Childrens hospital in Exeter. That year, a man stood in the entrance to the Honeylands hospital and told the entire group, they could not enter. When told the club had been asked to attend the open day, he would still not let us in. That ended the annual donation and no attendance since. The money now goes to the Lord Mayors charity that he or she selects. Its a shame when someone objects and ruins a relationship. There was also a run to Trago Mills collecting Christmas money for sick children and we were asked to leave as soon as we showed up. All dressed as Father Xmas so the group had to ride to a City centre to collect. Very strange when these were normal nice people who happen to use motorcycles and not cars. Once turned away after a lot of organising, there is never a repeat visit. The Honeylands annual visit was bad to lose as the children loved to see the bikes. They also lost the substantial donation.
