Paignton bike nights

They have started last Wednesday with one new addition for us motorcyclists who raise thousands of pounds for the local children and blood bank etc.
The police have installed noise microphones with a camera to catch the number plate right near the entrance to the gathering.
Maybe this device will get cut down but all are aware of it now.
Again, its nothing to do with safety as its in a 30mph limit on the seafront. Another revenue machine.
Some of the tickets issued will give them problems on the old bikes where the noise limits will be too high but the noise law may not apply to the old bikes.
My bike will not be caught due to the mess on the rear plate that just happens when i go out.
A few years ago they would put out mobile cameras but then that stopped after some multiple accidents where bikes had suddenly braked hard.
There was an attempt to stop this charity event again this year but a few words from local people who vote these councillors in got that motion stopped.
About 3000 pound a night is collected for the local children who may have serious illness and it helps pay for their needs

I dont mind loud pipes, it's the really noisey ones I dont like.

I know one persons loud pipe is another blokes noisey pipe so without a decibel meter you cannot define "loud"

Not heard any really loud motorcycle pipes for a while, the really noisey ones are usually Harleys with what sound like systems with no baffles in them.

There also seems to be a lot of less of the crackle / bang / pop cars around at the moment.

Both the Him and the KH have noisey pipes, but I like to think I am being responsible by not giving either of them beans in built up areas. Why would you anyway as it is usually 30 / 20 in a built up area.

H2 and Speedmaster have stock pipes so are pretty quiet.

Each to his own I guess.

Hopefully wont be any cops around for the Spirit run today - hopefully not anyway since it is a charity runu raising money for Dorset air ambulance.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Police here deliberately target the charity runs. For many years, they would set up a Wednesday camera van to catch those heading home to Plymouth and Exeter so the event organisers warned the public.
There was a time when police were at the event to boost their own image but that stopped and blood bank bikes arrived for publicity. In recent years, they stopped the camera vans after their presence caused a multi pile up so the noise cam should get them some money.
Its strange that so many bikes around here have a large tree leaf stuck on the rear plate. If its in a photo, it just happened to be falling in front of the plate at that moment.
Some riders have pull up number plates but heavy fines for being caught.
