Hitler tried to stop us ton up boys

But it got rebuilt so I could go for burn ups on the North Circular then a coffee at the good old Ace. We also used to go there on our way back from a Saturday night at the 59 club in Hackney. Happy Daze.

Used to pop in on the way back from racing ..
Them Maz and I went to the re opening when Mark Wilsmore took it on still have the T shirts ..

If that’s the time that Rita Tushingham turned up in the afternoon, then so was I. Anyway you are far too young to have been riding motorbikes when Hitler was chucking bombs at the Ace. Either that or you have been telling bigger Porkies than usual.

I didn’t get to see Rita as I had to meet my wife and daughter up London for Lunch and then to a show to see the Jersey Boys. Pity as I had my video cover with me in the hope I’d get her to sign it.

To be honest Andy I was a Norf Lundun lad but can only recall calling in there once and that was when my wife needed to take a comfort break on the way to a holiday. I do recall once trying to take on a couple of Vincent Comets in a burn up from the Hangar Lane traffic lights close to the ACE. They made so much noise leaving the lights I couldn’t hear my engine so just let them go, it was deafening!

Daves scooter has no front mudguard to gain more speed. Looks like a tuned up scoot. Mine was a Triang with chrome wheels and white tyres. A car drove over it taking its life.

Our Ton up.days were around Blackbush aerodrome until.one of our mates came off going flat out on the main runway sliding along feet first and leather jacket riding up his back losing all his skin.

I worked there in the ground control hut, Dave. Around 1967. Extremely Happy Daze. A knackered T110 being my ride at the time.
