Morning all, you may remember me!

I've just returned from almost three days of six+ hours/day riding in 30C heat around N Wales. God's own motorcycle paradise, of course, but way, way, way too hot.

We covered 520 miles in two and a half days' riding around fantastic and also very tiny lanes as well as the usual joyous curves of the A and B roads up there - and my backside hurts a lot. V Strom saddles - even my tall one and lowered pegs - result in pressure points so I'm going to have to do something about that, perhaps not doing such long hours in the heat lol, maybe an airhawk cushion.

You'll be amazed to hear that I've neither bought nor sold a bike for a long time - the Strom has been here for 2.5yrs now and the little MZ was a bike I owned once before so, technically, I only lent it to someone for six years before it returned.

I'm actually finding it difficult to think of another bike I'd want which is most unusual for me! So, here's to happy, but perhaps not so hot, days in the saddle!

As it's been so ridiculously hot (have I mentioned that?!) I've slept outside quite a bit recently using my alternative two wheeler which has no bloody hot engine or exhaust. If you soak your shirt before you start you have air con for at least ten miles. I've owned this one for 14yrs - and have never considered changing it for another

Good to hear from you, you are right it has been hot, in fact too hot sometimes to enjoy the bike so I stayed in a fair bit, as I was just not enjoying riding any of the bikes in the heat.

I also have a pushbike, it has been in the family for years. I can remember when Colette and I bought it. It is an old style "sit up and beg" type of bike, but does have a Shimano 10 speed gear set, and I love riding it. Not very far, but quite often.

I did have a 15 speed "Mountain Bike" but really did not like it so I got shot of it recently.

I might consider another MZ but it would have to be an ETZ 301, one bike I truly wish I had never sold, it was fantastic.

I find the TS models too small and twitchy, the ETZ models are just right.

Off for a ride soon, might take a look at Chew Valley lakes to see how low they are, and to find the Mr Whippy van !!

To soften a seat, cut some foam from an old memory foam mattress and fit it under the seat cover. Or, buy some leathercloth and make a seat cover about 1 inch thick for the memory foam insert.
I fitted memory foam under the seat cover of my old Triumph a long time ago and its a lot better.

I'd have that MZ in a second. My kind of bike.
