hearing aids , I suspect a few onn here have them'
I was prescribed a pair by the nhs , the behind the ear ones that you have to fit batteries in every coupple of days , the batteries are fidly , with a pull off sticky strip , I found them very hard to change (most of the batteries are now scattered on floor)
I wanted , in ear , bluetooth multipoint ,(those can connect to several devices at same time , ie: ears , phone and you can stream from a music player) the likes of specsave and boots were talking £2000 to £30000 , even tho they were temu quality , without compatition

I dont know if you know that the restrictions on supplying hearing aids in the UUK hads now been amended , you can now buy Over The Counter aids.
not thr shitty basic amplifyers on ebay , but proper ones that can be set using an app on your phone , just like specsavers would do on a PC

I was lucky , I my hearing person sent me the printout from the test (much like a glasses prescription ), and I was able to program most of the points into the app , and essensially program the buds untill a full factory reset
I ones I bought are cearvol wave ones from the rain forrest at about £329 , knowing if they dont work they can go back (ps they seem to work well)

anyone done simular , how did you go about saving several £0000

Fortunately, i have no hearing loss and also only needed glasses for 3 years just for driving.
I have noticed many almost invisible aids on people.
If i needed this gear requiring a mobile phone, i would be stumped as i dont have one.

if you went to a hearing aid place , they would take new hearing aids and program them , they are not just amplifiers they are microprocessers that enhance the "holes" in your hearing , they dont make everything loud (like sa victorian ear trumpet ) they allow most sounds to be the same , just increase the muffled/missing stuff, I have just done a new test , in a relaxed and controled settup , it was noisy at doctors , and bit confusing what was happening , look at this new chart , you can see which frequencys I am missing
you then use a mobile to type those setting in , the earphones save the settings, the test is free online , you need access to headphones

On a lighter note and not to detract from the seriousness of the subject. I was recently on a flight from Paris when, during the flight safety briefing, the mobile of the elderly man in the seat in front of me went off. He was wearing those aids that go behind the ears. It was as loud as a doorbell. Anyway, he was instructing a delivery driver. Meanwhile girl is in the middle of he spiel and udiot tries to show her where the package was left only for her to tell him that she was a bit busy.
So, trundle down to take off position when the doorbell goes off again. He is told quite firmly to switch it off but proceeds to arrange a lunch appointment.
Icing on the cake was he then reclined his seat on a 40 minute flight,

I have had mine for years now only problems was the hospital gave up on hearing fortunatly can still get batteries free from my surgery
Left ear has damaged eardrum caused by firing a custom 45 pistol in an enclosed area

my right ear was damaged about 10 yrs ago, stupid vw trike with high exaust and cherry bomb silencers , fitting new carb and electronic ign , it backfired , with me leant over and about 2 ft from end of silencer , could not hear anything for about a month

the problem with the NHS one , is changing the batteries

If its the same as mine just put the battery in and slightly close it with the tab outside the peel it off cleaning a bugger unscrewing the earpiece then pushing fine piece of plastic thread through to clean need good eyesight
