Not seen any wasps this year and the normal bee supply in the garden has gone during the heat . Someone nearby has a hive as there are normally at least 6 stealing nectar all day

I've had a lot of wasps in the garden this summer, but they don't bother me until later. I have tubs of water for the birds & there's always wasps in there for a drink. They forage the insects & head back to the nest to feed the queen. When she's done for the season & they're not needed any more, they go out on the lash & get aggressive after the cider they get from fallen apples.
There's been quite a few bees of different sorts, too, but not as many as usual. There's a couple of places with tell-tale moss lids, indicating a bees nest in the ground.

We seem to have lost all the flies around here. The flies climb up the window and come down two by two.
