Insurance

The motorcycle insurers often say there is a discount if you have club membership. I was in a club of 200 riders and they would not recognise the club. Has anyone actually seen a discount for club membership on a policy ? .I may join a club but will not be active in it if the discount is genuine. My policy renews in February so if i joined a club, i should have renewal at under this years price making membership virtually free.

I asked Peter James when I received my renewal this year what it would be if I ended my membership with the TOMCC and it was considerably higher. The discount easily covered my membership. T

Wonder what discount they give to the Hells Angels - that's a bike club 😁
Who needs a signature anyway......

They certainly will not consider old local clubs, only National ones. I might just join any club that has the lowest membership cost. Maybe the Vespa club or Mobylette. All they want is a club name that exists. I dont see how it can make you a safer rider. I usually explain that it is more likely to have an accident when out with a group of riders and thats why i ride alone mostly. Just twice a year with a group of old bikes

My insurance is coming due, so I decided I really ought to ask around. In the following "company" means specialist bike broker. 2 companies can't combine my 2012 Triumph on a Classic policy. Separate policy for my Triumph is 50% more than my current insurance. 3 companies can't do business Class 1 cover for classics. 1 company limits Triumph to 7k miles per annum. 1 company requires you to waive legally required pillion cover - insurance invalid if you have a passenger. But they get around the legal requirement by giving pillion cover (no declaration of cost) if you insist. 2 companies said multi-bike policies mean more than 1 classic, not more than 1 bike. 1 company provides breakdown/recovery only via RAC (chocolate tea pot?) 1 company says in event of crash or recovered theft claim their assessment of market value will apply, but will take into account agreed value. Extra payment required to get cover for agreed value and return of bike, less their valuation of the bike as is. But if they class it as A or B write-off, then you can't have it back & it has to be crushed (A) or sold to their breakers (B). In other words you are shafted.
Soddit & Buggrit I'm sticking with Peter James again.
