I was asked to prepare you for the bat testing process being used this Saturday at the Manor Avenue site (Platinum Bracket). It is very important your players realize the cold weather conditions expected Saturday morning. Understand many of the composite bat manufacturers do not recommend use under a certain temperature. This temperature varies per manufacturer. We will be under that temperature most of the day. It is very possible to see bats break due to cold weather use. NO bat will be allowed once a crack in the construction of the bat is seen. Large amounts of "rattling" is also a sign of structural damage. We are by no means to accuse anyone of altering a bat simply because it does not pass the compression tester or simply breaks throughout the day. All bats being used at this site MUST bear the manufacturers' current ASA certification stamp AND the tournament approval sticker AND must not be on the ASA Unapproved Bat List. A few key points to be informed of are listed below:
--Bats will be tested from 8-10am on a first come / first served basis. Then randomly tested throughout the day as deemed necessary by District 6 Slow Pitch Player Rep Kevin McDonald.
--Any bat that appears to have been altered will be confiscated and dealt with accordingly
--Any bat failing in ONE spot tested will be deemed is non-approved
--No bat will be tested if it shows any structural damage, specific types of paint damage, or abnormal condensation
--No failed bat may be re-tested at any time throughout this event
--Any legitimate questions will get an attempted answer
