The Avon Walk For Breast Cancer will take place May 17-18 in Boston.
To help Turkeys Trotters, a local group made up of Brian Fritz, Amanda Hunter, John Worthington and Tom Rezepnicki, raise funds for the cause, the Avon Walk For Breast Cancer Coed Softball Tournament took place at Camp Upland last weekend.
Homers for Hooters knocked off The Meat Militia, 12-7, in the tournament championship game. Joe DePaolo hit a three-run homer to help manager Jesse Unangst's team seal the decision.
Among the other members of the championship team were Tyler Penhallow, Cory Landes, Becky Unangst, Valerie Beatrice, Kelsey Whiteman, Mike Trivino, Sean Bradley, Dan Martin and Jon Unangst.
The Amateur Softball Association, under the direction of District Six commissioner Joe Organek, raised $1,100 through the tournament to help fight breast cancer. In February, a benefit at Tom n Jerry's in Ridley Township helped raise $2,500.
