There seems to be some confusion about playoffs and how they work.
Once again, here it is... it's pretty simple....
A/B Division - Top six teams - REGARDLESS OF DIVISION - make the A playoffs. Division winners get a bye to the semis. The other four teams are seeded No.3-thru-No. 6 and play in the quarterfinals. The highest remaining team plays the No. 2 seed and the lowest remaining seed plays the No. 1 seed in the semis. Semi winners meet in the championship.
The next eight teams - REGARDLESS OF DIVISION - Make the B playoffs. They are seeded 1-thru-8 and play in bracket style from the quarterfinals-to the-semifinals-to the finals.
In other words, The winner of the 1 vs. 8 quarterfinal will play the winner of the 4 vs. 5 quarterfinal in one semi while the 2 vs. 7 quarterfinal winner will play the 3 vs. 6 quarterfinal winner in the other semi.
Tie breakers are broken in division first, and then across division. Tiebreakers are head-to-head first, division record second (to break ties within a division only. Across divisions skip the second tiebreaker) and then record against common opponents is third. If still tied, run differential in head-to-head games is fourth, run differential against common opponents is fifth and a coin flip is sixth. These tiebreakers also apply to every other division of play.
In the C, E and Rec divisions, the top six teams advance to the playoffs. The top two go to the semifinals while the other four are seeded 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 in the quarterfinals.
In the D Division, the top eight teams - REGARDLESS OF DIVISION - make the playoffs. The Division winners are seeded No. 1 and No. 2 and then they play out via a bracket as outlined in the B Division playoffs above.
