1. You can only bat 11 players, not 12. Advanced Play allows for only one extra hitter.
2. All batters start with a 1-1 count.
3. There are no courtesy runners. You may pinch run with someone on the bench but that counts as a substitution. The re-entry rules still apply.
There is one other rule change, but it is different in District Six than at the state level.
4. Any ball hit over the outfield fence is not a home run but rather just an out with any runners on base returning to their base.
At the state level a ball over the outfield fence isn't just an out but a poison pull that immediately ends the half inning.
While we in District 6 understand the State's efforts to curb players who should be playing at higher levels from sneaking down and playing in the E's and also trying to negate the use of doctored bats, the idea of killing the inning is extreme. An out serves the same purpose. There is no rational explanation (my opinion) for why ending the half inning is better than just an out. I will continue to fight against that absurd rule and by doing it our own way in Districts is part of that fight.
Anyway... That's it. I'll post all remaining pickups this afternoon and see the rest of you in Kennett tomorrow.
