Daily Times, In The Community: Sharon Hill women's fast-pitch team will be joining the ASA of PA Hall of Fame this weekend

A number of members of the local softball community will be honored at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of Pennsylvania awards dinner at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey in Grantville Saturday.
Joining the Hall of Fame will be the Sharon Hill women's fast-pitch teams which earned local, regional and state championships during the 1980s. Nancy Keeley, who pitched Sharon Hill to 11 Del Val Women's Fast Pitch League championships three state titles and a fourth-place finish in the 1984 national tournament, will join the Hall of Fame as a player.
Among the members of the 1983 Sharon Hill team, which won the franchise's first state championship, were Keeley, catcher Barb Robinson, first baseman Toni McCabe, second baseball Donna (Carrero) DeVito, shortstop Mickey (Totman) Rowe, third baseman Chris Greeley, outfielders Vicky (Greenwood) Pecunia, Theresa Dunbar and Barb Miller, and reserves Roe Wells, Theresa Pitts and Sheila Bury. Mary Quinlan was the team's head coach, and Mike Quinlan and Jeanne McCandless were assistant coaches.
The J. Richard Millhouse Umpire Award will go to Douglas "Jake" Royal, a veteran of many Daily Times Champs 'n' Charity Classics. The Times will receive the ASA of PA Sportswriters/Media Award for the 15th time, and Brenda Smerigan, director of the Del Val Youth Softball League will receive an ASA of PA Recognition/Appreciation Award.
