Daily Times: August 2nd - Millennium Sunday Playoff Roundup
In the Millennium Sunday Softball League "Bats Plus Red" Division championship round:
J.D. McGillicuddy's Kirklyn Ducks 11-10, J.D. McGillicuddy's Brookline 6-6 >> It's safe to call the J.D. McGillicuddy's Kirklyn Ducks a dynasty in the Millennium Sunday League.
Joe Kerley pitched both wins and was 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the clincher as the Ducks swept the best-of-3 series.
Sunday's championship celebration marks the Ducks' third Millennium League title in four years. After going back-to-back in 2012-13, the Ducks fell short last summer, but they proved to be the best team once again in 2015.
In Game 1, Mike Fitzgerald saved the Ducks with a sparkling defensive play. He turned an unassisted double play at third base to force extra innings, and the Ducks' bats did the rest. Brian Leposki and Frank Lanni led the charge with back-to-back homers.

In the Millennium Sunday "DeMarini Blue" American/National Division championship round:
Lee Raech Jewelers 10-11, Stanley Kup Inn 2-5 >> The Jewelers pounded their opponent into submission with their big bats while flashing plenty of fine leather along the way.
In the opener, Collin DiGalbo homered, doubled and drove in three runs, while Andrew Tully was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Danny Leicht was the man on defense behind pitcher Mike Labuski, who fooled the Kup hitters, limiting them to several weak-contact outs.
The Jewelers rode the durable arm of Anthony DiGalbo Sr. in Game 2, and Tully added three more hits, including another double, and two ribbies. Collin DiGalbo, a Bonner-Prendergast grad who will play football at Kutztown in the fall, showed the older guys how it's done at the plate, bashing two more homers to highlight a 4-for-4 performance. He fell a triple shy of the cycle.
Ken Komorowski gunned down a runner at home plate with a flashy, behind-the-back throw to catcher Dennis Hocker. Leicht and Mike O'Brien teamed up for a pair of double plays in the infield to solidify the Jewelers' championship victory.
