This past Wednesday we had our first of two bat testing dates. The second date is scheduled for April 6, 2016 @ 6:30pm @ Barnaby's of Ridley.
After April 6th, or starting week 2 of the season, the following rules will apply to all non-approved/banned/non-tested ASA bats used in all Millennium Sunday Divisions:
If a player steps into the batters box, and during the course of their at bat, or prior to the next batter stepping into the box is found to be using/or has used a non-approved/banned/non-tested bat the following shall occur:
1st infraction:
The batter is deemed out immediately. If it is after a hit but prior to the next batter stepping into the box, the hit is ruled a dead ball and all base runners must return to their previous base, and the batter is out.
2nd infraction:
If a second player steps into the box and uses or gets a hit with a non-approved/banned/non-tested bat then said player and the coach of the team are both ejected from the game. If the bat is found to be in violation after a hit, but prior to the next batter stepping into the box, then any base runners must return to their previous base and the batter is out.
3rd infraction:
Any team that uses a non-approved/banned/non-tested bat for a third time their team then forfeits the game
While this rule does add the language of "tested bat", that part of the rule only applies to the A/B and C Divisions. However if a team in a lower division, that we did not require to get bats tested for this season, uses a non-approved/banned bat then the same rules as above applies.
I urge everyone to review the banned bat list as Easton has voluntarily added some of their bats to the banned list. While this past Wednesday it seemed many teams were aware of it, a couple of teams were not and were told at the testing that certain Easton bats could not be used anymore.
If you have any questions about this rule please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your division captains below.
