Below is a team photo of Wood's Construction/All Done (District 6) - 2016 ASA of PA Coed Class "D" State Champions.
Here's a roundup of how the team from the Chester County Coed Softball League went through the bracket.
Wood's Construction/All Done finished up pool play 2-0 with a plus 27 run differential and took the overall #2 seed heading into double elimination bracket play.
After ten running the first two teams they played in bracket play, they ran into the #1 seed the Blazers.
Wood's Construction/All Done came up short in that game, losing 8-6.
They then had to beat two very good teams in the loser's bracket.
Starting with the Gators, they prevailed with a nine run win that was aided by a pinch hit grand slam by Bill Salinsky.
Then in the loser's bracket finals, they faced AMC.
Thanks to a great comeback, they defeated AMC by one run.
The team then went on to face the Blazers, this time in the finals, where they would have to to double dip them in order to take the title.
The first game was a great defensive effort with key plays by Lisa Scanlon and Emily Houck who played solid 'D' all day long.
Wood's Construction/All Done took the first game 8-3.
The second game was close until the top of the 6th inning when WC/AD went on a run to take a three-run lead with key hits by Woody Lawrence and Jordan Haines.
After holding the Blazers to one-run in the final two innings and with the stellar pitching of Michael Fabris, the Woods Construction/All Done coed team were crowned the 2016 ASA of PA Coed Class "D" State Champions, after a 7-5 win!
"In what was a long day which started at 8:30 a.m. and ended the next morning at 3:30 a.m., the team which had an 8-1 record in the tournament, left with a well earned coveted state title.
"We battled hard all day and everyone gave 110%. We have a great group of players who know what it takes to win. This is a great feeling" - said coach Andy Finkbohner.
The Wood's Construction/All Done team plans on representing District 6 at the ASA Coed Class "D" National Championship in St. Joseph's, Missouri the weekend of August 26-28.
