HEADLINE - ASA Hall of Fame Retires Media Award, Enshrines Delaware County Daily Times in the Hall
For more than three decades, the Delaware County Daily Times has been the preeminent media outlet in Pennsylvania when it comes to amateur softball.
Now, the newspaper will be recognized for its unrivaled coverage and involvement in the sport.
In 2017, the Daily Times will be enshrined in the ASA of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame in recognition of its stellar reporting on softball and its involvement in raising money for charity, most noticeably the American Cancer Society, who have been the recipient of thousands of dollars as part of the Daily Times annual fundraising softball tournament.
The Daily Times has been a regular recipient of the ASA of Pennsylvania's Sportswriters/Media Award for more than a decade, and with that in mind, the ASA of Pennsylvania hierarchy decided to eliminate the award and simply put the Daily Times in the Hall for it's outstanding contribution to the promotion of amateur softball and utilizing the sport as a way to bring communities closer and rally residents around causes through their appreciation of the sport.
The Daily Times covers softball in ASA of Pennsylvania's District 6, the district with the most registered softball teams in the state of Pennsylvania.
This will mark the sixth consecutive year and eighth out of the last ten years that representatives of District 6 will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
