Sharon Hill Fire Company defeated Springfield/Ridley/Eddystone Police, 26-20, in the championship game of the recent "Take Pride in Blue" softball tournament at Camp Upland.
The event was held to raise funds for Vest-A-Cop, which helps provide protective vests to Delaware County police officers and first responders.
Anyone interested in making a donation to Vest-A-Cop can go to https://www.vestacop.com.
Tournament director Joe Organek said plans are in the works to hold a First Responders softball tournament in the spring for teams from Delaware and Chester counties as well as the tri-state area.
Another upcoming softball tourney will be a coed tourney scheduled for Nov. 19, at Camp Upland. All proceeds will benefit the Providence Animal Shelter (formerly the Delaware County SPCA).
The tournament will be limited to six teams, and the entry fee is $150. Each team is guaranteed to play three games and is ASA sanctioned.
Tournament rules require that at least three women are on the field at all times – one as pitcher or catcher, one in the infield and one in the outfield.
