The USA of PA (formerly Amateur Softball Association of PA) will conclude its 2017 Southeastern Area meeting at Barnaby's of Ridley with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday.
Joining the Hall of Fame will be Joe Organek, the District 6 commissioner, Steve Dimitry of the Norristown Softball League, as well as the Daily Times, which will be honored for its decades of coverage of local softball.
Organek has been involved in softball in Delaware County as a player, coach, administrator and fundraiser since 1978. He is commissioner of the Millennium Sunday Softball League, which is about to begin its 20th season.
Dimitry, who has played in a number of Champs 'n' Charity Classics, the longtime fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society, has been a member of 10 state championship teams and five teams that have won national titles in his career, which began in 1977.
The Daily Times won the ASA of PA Sportswriter/Media Award so often that the association felt that it deserved a place in the Hall of Fame for its contributions to softball as well as its charity efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society.
The USA of PA will hold its District 6 umpires clinic from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnaby's of Ridley, 2107 MacDade Boulevard in the Holmes section of Ridley Township.
