Congratulations to Quan Ta Productions/Slurricanes from District 6 and the Millennium Sunday Softball League who just a few hours ago won the 2017 USA of PA Men's Slow Pitch Class "D2" State Championship in Drifton.
The team had to double-dip previously undefeated Unhinged (District 4) to win the championship.
The Slurricanes won the first game by the score of 16-15 in 10 innings and then clinched the title in the second game when Joey Simmonds hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs for a 19-9 victory - finishing the tournament with a 7-1 record.
For coming in 1st place the team won $1.332.00 in prize money.
There will be more game details to follow after the team returns home with what is sure to be a celebratory trip from Drifton after winning a state championship - in what is considered to be the most prestigious softball tournaments in Pennsylvania.
The Slurricanes state championship marks the 2nd consecutive year a team from the Millennium Sunday Softball League can claim that honor with Applegate Softball winning the 2016 ASA of PA Men's Slow Pitch Class "E" State Championship.
District 6 (Chester & Delaware Counties) placed 4 teams in the final 8 with three of the teams coming from the Millennium Sunday Softball League.
The league is arguably the most competitive Men's Sunday softball league in the state and also the largest.
The 50 teams who play in the league should be very proud of the accomplishments of our teams at the highest levels of competition of softball in Pennsylvania.
