In a three team tie, a team must have swept both of the other two teams to win on a head-to-head tiebreaker. In other words, if one team is 3-1 and the others are 2-2 and 1-3 that doesn't guarantee the spot, because they would have split with one of the other teams.
Also, once a team is eliminated from a three-team tiebreaker, the other two teams start the tiebreaker procedure over from the beginning.
Run differential will only be used to determine seeding. If teams are tied for a final playoff spot and it reaches the third tiebreaker, teams will play a one-game playoff prior to the semifinals beginning.
