Daily Times: Millennium Sunday Roundup - DeFeo leaves Slack's feeling black-and-blue
Tom DeFeo's Sunday did not start out so well.
In a morning makeup game, the Southwest Philly Assassins shortstop took a bad-hop ground ball off the outside of his left eye, leaving the eye swollen under shades of black and blue and a purplish hue.
Yet that did not prevent DeFeo from having a big day in a subsequent Millennium Softball League doubleheader.
Despite the nasty (looking) injury, he toughed it out and went 6-for-8 with six runs scored and three RBIs as the Assassins topped Slack’s Hoagie Shack, 23-13 and 15-7.
DeFeo went 4-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and twoRBIs in the opener, and 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one ribbie in the nightcap. Paul La-Bruna also was 4-for-4 in Game 1 with a dinger, four RBIs and four runs scored.
