Daily Times Millennium Sunday Roundup - A day for the record book for Stephen's on State
Stephen's on State made the Millennium League record books Sunday and it wasn't for most beers consumed in one setting.
According to commissioner Joe Organek, the State dudes became the first team in the league's 23 year history to win four games in one day.
First up the Ball Hogz, who got hammered by scores of 12-1 and 10-4. Mike Ascenzi had four hits in this set, including a two-run dinger in Game 2.
Jimmy Jenkins and Al Heinle each had clutch, two-out singles to break open a tie game as part of a six run rally in the bottom of the fifth in Game 2.
Stephen's kept the good times rolling with 12-7 and 15-1 triumphs over AmSett.
Bobby Jones was 3-for-3with three ribbies and Anthony SanFilippo Jr. added a pair of knocks and two RBIs in the opener.
Ryan Whitmarsh doubled, tripled and drove in three runs in Game 2.
Cheers for Rob Benigni who somehow went the distance in all four games without passing out. He gave up only nine earned runs on the day.
Stephen’s now sits in first place in the Bats Plus Division with a 10-2 record.
