*** Marty Magee's Canes wins the USA Softball Men's Class "E" Slow Pitch National Championship ***
Congratulations to Marty Magee's Canes from the Millennium Sunday Softball League (District 6) who won the USA Softball Men's Class "E" Slow Pitch National Championship that was held in Salem, Virginia over the Labor Day Weekend.
In the championship game the Canes defeated UILS/El Canelo from New Castle, PA by the score of 11-1.
The Canes who were coached by Steve Michels went 5-0 in the tournament and played outstanding defense - only giving up an incredible 19 runs (less than 4 runs a game) in the tournament.
The team received a National Champions plaque and individual medals and their photo will be posted on the USA Softball national website.
Also, congratulations to Kevin Brown who was named the tournament MVP.
The team will be invited to and honored at the 2023 USA/ASA Hall of Fame Awards Banquet which will be held on the evening of Saturday, March 4th at the Holiday Inn-Hershey.
The USA Softball Men's Slow Pitch National Championship was the 1st for both the Millennium Sunday Softball League and District 6.
The only other National Championship ever won by a team in District 6 was twenty years ago in 2002 when Max Magee's Pub from the Suburban Women's Softball League won the ASA Women's Class "B" Slow Pitch National Championship.
Until today USA/ASA Softball of Pennsylvania which was founded in 1935 has only had 6 Men's Slow Pitch National Champions in 88 years - now Marty Magee's Canes can proudly add their name to that list.
