CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington, NC this Saturday, February 4th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is a full card of great action! All bouts are sanctioned by the AWA, the American Wrestling Association. "Slick Diddy" Ric Converse proved to his fans and the rest of the American Wrestling Association, just why he is the #1 ranked contender in the world last week with his remarkable victory over former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino. Originally scheduled for the World Championship, Corino returned from Japan without the title having been defeated by Shinjiro Ohtani. Instead the bout was resigned for Converse's AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Converse defied the odds and turned back the challenge of Corino to score a pinfall win and again secure his spot as the top contender on the globe to the title now held by AWA ZERO-1-MAX's Ohtani. Don't expect the "Mid-Atlantic King" to rest this week though. Converse will be in action again this Saturday night however he will not have to place his championship on the line, but you better believe "Slick Diddy" will be running the city! This week marks the return of an international wrestler and superstar of Ring Of Honor, "The Havana Pitbull" Ricky Reyes! Reyes was last in the Carolina Sports Arena during the AWA World Light Heavyweight Title Tournament back in July. Reyes defeated Jesse Ortega during the tournament via referee stoppage as Ortega passed out in an incredibly painful submission/choke-hold. This Saturday night Reyes returns to face Ortega again in a special challenge rematch. Ortega has been in intensive training to prepare for this return bout with many reasons for motivation. First and foremost, Ortega hopes to avenge his previous loss and catapult his name higher in the AWA Championship Committee meetings. A win over such an internationally known competitor provides additional exposure and the potential to secure some lucrative high-profile matches in the future. Another huge reason is that Ricky Reyes is yet another "invader" that has targeted CWF Mid-Atlantic as a proving grounds for success. Wrestlers across the country have been taking note of the high level of competition that has not only spawned the current AWA World Light Hwt. Champion Kirby Mack, but also the top ranked heavyweight contender Ric Converse. With that huge spotlight shining across the AWA's Mid-Atlantic territory, it's no wonder that superstars like Ricky Reyes are anxious to see action against the top wrestlers in this area like Jesse Ortega. CWF Mid-Atlantic rerquested comments from Reyes about his upcoming match and we were met with a very unique response. The Pitbull commented, "I'm heading to North Carolina with one purpose, to meet and defeat every top athlete there. No one can stop me once I've committed to accomplishing a goal. That's why I am the Havana Pitbull. Jesse Ortega, I'm gonna clamp down on your neck again this Saturday and it'll be lights out for you, again!" When we relayed the comments from Reyes, it only seemed to intensify Jesse Ortega's focus. "I respect Ricky Reyes for his accomplishments and his physical style of wrestling. But one thing he's going to find out, Jesse Ortega is no one's stepping stone. Reyes, don't talk about, be about it," retorted the 2005 Johnny Weaver Cup Winner. If you're looking for hard-hitting, jaw-dropping, mat-pounding action, this is one match you can't afford to miss! Also announced for this Saturday night, "The Boogie Woogie Man" Rob McBride will put his AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Title on the line against the "Flex Phenomenal" Julius Augustus. McBride turned back an international competitor himself last weekend, as he defeated Canadian Quinson Valentino. This week McBride will face a challenger a little closer to home in Augustus. McBride hopes to retain the title "for his peoples" but the crafty Augustus has his aim set to crown a new ruler of the television realm, and make it "Phenomenal." Plus a grudge tag team bout is also signed, as "Rock 'n' Roll" Matty Dee & Roy Wilkins team up to face "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha & Donnie Dollar$ with their manager Brad Stutts. Matty Dee and Wilkins have suffered a tremendous amount of punishment at the hands of Yamaha but this week finally get the much hated grappler in the ring together. The last time Yamaha was in the Sports Arena, he nearly set off a riot with his antics. This week is sure to be more of the same!!! All this and so much more including the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions The $outh$ide Playas, Rising Generation League Champion Ultra Dragon, Joey Silvia, Chris & Rob Guerrero, "Tornado" Tony Kozina, Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens, "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor, Tank Lawson with manager Cornelus J. Lumpkin III, Marcellus King, Keenan Quinn, K.C. McKnight, and more!!! Don't you dare miss it!!! Link: Indy Insiders! www.IndyInsiders.Com
