This Saturday night, CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to Burlington's Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium with New Year's Knockout 2010! In the main event, former Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Champions face off as newly crowned Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion KAMAKAZI KID defends against the holder of the Ultra J Crown XSIRIS! These two have a storied history as rivals and partners and it seems ironically fitting to long-time CWF fans and historians that Kazi's first defense of the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title come against Xsiris.
In his petition for the title match, Aftermath mastermind William L. Cross cited that the last man to beat Kazi in a singles match prior to Battlecade X was Xsiris, back at November's "PWI Night of Champions." CWF and PWI officials heard the Aftermath's argument and agreed to sanction the bout. The Ultra J Crown is NOT on the line in this main event match but if Xsiris should win he will hold a most unique statistic in CWF history: he will become the first man to ever become a double champion TWICE. Xsiris previously held the Mid-Atlantic TV Title and RGL Title simultaneously and if he pulls off the victory here, he'll become a 2-time double champion!
This is guaranteed to be a high-flying, spectacular main event against two evenly matches athletes who know each other better than anyone. One has to wonder if Xsiris rival Mikael Yamaha could make his presence felt at any point during the night but if luck is on the side of Xsiris this could be a career defining night. The extremely popular new champion will have to be on his game to fend off this extremely formidible challenge.
Say what you will about the Aftermath's William Cross but he has brokered quite a deal for his men at this Saturday's event. He's got Xsiris challenging for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title in half of the double main event and in the other half, he's got "The 1st" RIC CONVERSE vs. BRASS MUNKEY in a match where the winner will be guaranteed the NEXT shot at the championship, currently scheduled for February 20th.
If Xsiris and Converse both win, we will see an Aftermath vs. Aftermath match for the richest prize in the Mid-Atlantic! While that would undeniably be win-win for Cross, it won't be an easy as it sounds. Converse, Munkey and Kazi brought one of the hardest hitting, most physically grueling Heavyweight Title matches in CWF history at Battlecade X. That match saw Kazi come out on top, pinning Munkey to capture his first Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. Now two former champions, Converse and Munkey, collide and only one will get the coveted opportunity to regain the title next month. It's a must-win situation for both of these former champions at New Year's Knockout!
Mid-Atlantic Television Champion LEE VALIANT has vowed to defend his title on Saturday, despite suffering from a myriad of injuries after the anything goes match at Battlecade X that saw him go to war against Joey Silvia. Valiant and Silvia collided again this past Saturday at the TCW event in Climax, NC as part of a breath-taking tag-team bout that saw Valiant and Kamakazi Kid defeat Silvia and Ty Dillinger. However, the biggest story of the night came after the bout when a sickening superkick from Silvia knocked Valiant unconscious. Despite that and despite the other injuries that the champion is suffering from, Valiant has sworn to appear this Saturday and defend the Television Title against a challenger selected from the random lottery. It could be someone's lucky night going up against a wounded champion fighting at less than 100%.
Valiant's arch-rivals Destiny will see six-man tag-team action this Saturday as JOEY SILVIA; STEVE GREENE and TY DILLINGER face ROY 'RAGE' WILKINS; CHIVA KID and ARIK ROYAL! The wars between Royal and Destiny have escalated in recent months and fresh off a Tuxedo Street Fight victory at Battlecade, Royal has turned to his friends for support in this titantic tag-team clash.
Another tag-team grudge match set for Saturday night's card will see the Afternath's MARCELLUS KING & JAXON DANE vs. Fatback's "Young Gun" NICK RICHARDS & MATTHEW DE NERO! The Aftermath won a tag-team battle royal at Battlecade X to become number one contenders to the Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Championship. The Aftermath then tried to attack Fatback after their successful title defense at Batltecade until a slew of wrestlers and referees cleared from the locker room to pull the two teams apart. King & Dane left the ring but not until after King had sent a message to Fatback by attacking Nick Richards with the "murder go round" backbreaker. Now Richards & de Nero want revenge and have challenged the Aftermath for New Year's Knockout!
Also scheduled for action: Fatback's "DANGEROUS E" COREY EDSEL; new Rising Generation League Champion ROO D. LEWIS; Showtyme's TREVOR LEE; CHASE DAKOTA; The Sindicate's MICHAEL McALLISTER & EVAN BANKS and more! This is a super spectacular card sanctioned by Pro Wrestling International.
DON'T FORGET this Saturday night will also feature the results of the CWF SuperFans Awards! Fans voted and fans will actually present the awards to this year's winners! A very unique opportunity for fans in this first ever SuperFan Awards and the Indy Insiders will also be presenting their year-end awards.
PLUS don't forget about FRIDAY NIGHT JANUARY 15TH and the return of PROJEKT X with "I'm a Fighter, Not a Lover." All your favorite high flying stars of Projekt X will be in action including a Battlecade X rematch as ROO D. LEWIS defends the Rising Generation League Championship vs. ShowTyme's TREVOR LEE! Plus Fatback's young gun NICK RICHARDS vs. CANADIAN MERCENDARY DOS and more bouts featuring BLACK GUY AND A LITTLE GOAT (ARIK ROYAL & CHIVA KID); big RAY KANDRACK and many others!
