Re: Progress Impala SS427
Wo Sluggo. The 69 SS427 was a sleeper Impala with all modern features and unique body design. It had a surround bumper with SS badging and black grill. The The sport coupe has Impala and SS badging on the fenders and 427 marker lights and SS on the trunk with rectangular 3 lights on the bumper. The fenders and quarters were scalloped with unique fender moldings. No after market quarters can be produced to hold the shape of the original NOS. That is why I had NOS quarters installed on My car. The sport coupe roofline is unique also with sloped windshield and edged to the quarters with a rectangluar back window that is representive to the early coupes. The door glass has no vents and astro ventilation along with regular vents. The dash is rectangular and deep with idiot lights and clock with wood grain. Head rests were standard and padded dash. Power disk brakes were standard with 15 inch wheels and G-70-15 red line tires. The AM/FM Multi Plex unit is under the dash and the radio incorporates the controls with 4 speakers. The hood is subtle with center bead and lines from the headlights which are recessed. I installed a tach and oil pressure gauge to monitor the engine. The console is wood grained and I purchased the large sport wood grain steering wheel. No SS badging in the interior unless the standard SS wheel which was standard was installed. The 69 and 70 B-body were the strongest cars made. Not a lot of chrome and rediculous badging and stupid non functioning gills and hood vents. Sorry Sluggo, but I Love the style of the 69. NICK L72
