'67 Impala....my headlight switch stem is getting loose and sometimes looses the connection. Is there a way to tighten it or do I have to replace the unit?
Hello Arden. Your switch is wearing out which makes the rod loose. From under the dash, You have to push the button in after the knob is pulled to turn the headlights on. Pull the knob all the way out. Remove the nut holding the switch and pull it out from the back of the dash. Remove the harness and replace the switch. Install the harness and put the switch into the dash and install the nut. Insert the knob and push all the way in until You hear a click. Pull the knob back out and it should lock. Retry to push it back in if it comes all the way out. Make sure it clicks. You may want to disconnect the battery terminal as the headlights will come on. NICK L72 427impalasportcoupe
