Good day, all you 427 fans this is going to sound like a dumb question but has anyone ever dealt with an engine that has been in a fire. Long story short my Napa Auto Care Center burned to the ground on May 30 34 years of hard work and an investment I haven't even started to wrap my head around yet. The engine was in the area where the fire started it won't turn over anymore but the oil filter still has paint on it. I'm no sure if can be used but I don't know for sure is there anything I should look for when I get time to disassemble. Thanks

To answer your question, perform the same procedures you would when rebuilding any vintage engine. Mag particle inspect for cracks, measure all components for compliance with tolerances and specifications. Aluminum items like pistons will suffer the most from extreme heat. Cast iron is pretty resilient.

Wow,really sorry to here that John. Unfortunately,Ive seen a lot of shops burn down as being a Hunter Alignment Rep for 30 plus years,I've had to go in after to help with insurance info. Always a devastating event. Good luck and hang in there.
