69 hood latch

I took my '69 Biscayne apart over 10 years ago so bear with me.Is there supposed to be a spring on the hood pin (bolted to the hood) that latches into the actual latch on the radiator support.I looked at a couple of '69 Chevelles and they had one but the '70 Chevelle did not.

Ken - On my '69 Impala, there is no spring on the hood pin, just on the latch mechanism.

Same as Steve , no spring on the hood pin on my 69 .

Great, thanks for responding.I sent the latches out a number of years ago to have them plated gray phosphate but noticed there was no spring when they were returned, I thought maybe it got lost. The two small springs were missing from the actual latch but I had a spare for parts.
