Calling all Lordstown '67s

If your '67 was made in Lordstown, OH...LOR...please post the number next to the build date. I think this is the actual day the car was built.

The facebook page for '67s has a '67 Caprice from Lordstown
281 10A

I think 281 = the 281st day of '66 = Sat Oct 8, '66

Arden, Warren,

My '68 Z24 was built in Lordstown. I have some 'good' data, but have a feeling that documentation was different than '67's. Would be glad to post anything I have if you think it might be of some help. Warren...you already have 'stuff' from my P/W and cowl tag.

Sure, why not. I'd like to see what your cowl tag looks like.

According to Warren, my actual build date theory has been debunked. I don't understand the variety of cowl tags among the assembly plants. But, it is interesting.

Meant to get back to you sooner. The very top of my cowl tag says "03D". The rest is similar to '67 (I think)...year, body style, plant location, S/N, interior trim code, paint code.

The BODY BROADCAST sheet prod date is blank, but the sequence says 035. On the back of the BODY SHOP INSPECTION sheet are some of the option codes/descriptions (including Z24). In the lower right corner of that back side is printed: "0253 03-27-68". Also, written in ink: "431". The car was delivered in mid-April '68.

I think that's just a fluke as I have two other 10A Lordstown cars with 281 and 043 as the number next to the date code. Could be the total body# built on a specific (unknown) day.

So, one car has
281 10A

The other
043 10A

Interesting. Wish we had more cars listed to see. Is Lordstown the only plant that did this? What about the STL built cars and the work-order number on the bottom...any other plants do that?
