tail pipe position survey/pole

I'm going to get my exhaust system replaced on Friday. I'd like to know just where your tail pipes come out? All the way in the rear of car,.. or directly behind the rear tires? For the past 20 years or so I've had mine go all the way to the rear of car. Considering a change. I read somewhere that the original placement of tail pipes was behind the rear tires. Where are yours? If you happen to have them behind the tires...post a pic... if you can. Thanks.

Looks like a great undercarriage ! Where did you get you system from?
I think the lower HP motors exited out the back near the bumper and the high horse cars exited behind the rear tires near the quarter panel.

This is what factory exhaust looked like on a 68 with 427/385. I think a portion of the visible tail pipe was painted black from factory.

Wow... now that's unbelievable. You could eat off of that. Beyond pristine. Thanks a lot. I had no clue there were also resonators on those cars. Appreciate your help.

The 427 425 would have tail pipes at rear tire similar to these on the 65.

I don't think this is a survey issue I would say it;s more of a fact. Pleae check your specific model in the respective assembly manual, that will show a picture of how the exhaust system was routed.

Not sure what show is in Dayton? I only did one local car show this year.

You need to bring your car so every one can see what a great piece it is!
I'm sure the 2018 NIA Convention will be held at the same location ( Dayton,Oh) that the Pontiac Nationals held theirs twice in the past.
I attended both those POCI Conventions and they were great.
Great location,easy access and great facility with lots going on. I believe our new NIA owner and editor had his hands in putting it on,cant wait.
This Convention will be a DON'T MISS, mark it down on your calendar guys

If it were me I would bring them BOTH!

Bring the 65 for a couple days and since its the year for "Class of 68" take the 65 home and exchange it for your 68. I would love to see them both.

Glad you're 'advertising' the upcoming NIA meet in July! When you said "same location" as the Pontiac events, were those events at the UD Marriott...like the Impala event will be?

I'm almost sure they were, its been about 4-5 yrs ago since the last one but when I looked the Marriott up on the map it looked like it was in the same area.
POCI rented the University basket ball arena and had cars on the floor and also along the top where you walk around the arena.
I hope we have a good enough turn out that that could be done again."Hint,Hint"
Make no mistake guys this show is in a great location and right next to Wright Patterson Air Force Base,there is no better Museum any where! You could take two days and not see it all, it is a piece of history like you have never seen and its good for the whole family.

I'm sure we will be hearing more in the near future but one thing for sure-make this a must do show.
PS, What a great Christmas gift.
