Looking for a 68 fullsize car clock core to convert to quartz. Must be complete and have a nice/mint face. I am going to put a quartz kit in it. Anyone have one to sell? Thanks. Mike L. slarson1@neo.rr.com

Mike check with mfr. There are some clocks that can be converted, and some cannot (Westclox, General Time, Hamilton, etc.) Ask first and be sure that you specify that type.

I'm pretty sure that the quartz retrofit kits are for the BORG manufactured clocks only.

I had my Westclox/General Time clock converted to quartz a few years ago and it keeps perfect time. This is the outfit I used: Clock Works 1745 Meta Lakes Rd. Eagle River, WI 54521 Phone: 715-479-5759 WWW.CLOCKWKS.COM The website indicated that they had some 1968 Chevrolet clocks in their inventory when I had mine done.

I have available two complete clocks from a '68...one made by General Time; the other by Borg. The 'faces' of both are pretty good (only one knob), but the back plates of both have some rust (the G-T is better). I converted my original clock to quartz more than 40 years ago with a kit from JC Whitney...accurate, and never had a problem! Keep in mind though, that the 'tell-tail' difference between the original and the conversion is that the sweep hand moves smoothly on the quartz unit..."jerky" on the original.
