69 AT WOODSTOCK

Posted by TRQ User icon on 12/3/2017, 9:22 pm

Saw this photo on a Woodstock site. Spielman Chevrolet emblem on the car? Was that a NY dealer? Car had to be fairly new at Woodstock.

I almost drove My 69 SS427 there, but My girlfriend changed Her Mind about going. Instead We went to the Atlantic City Pop Festival and slept in the car. Big back seat!!! Held at the Atlantic City race track. My favorite Year "1969". NICK L72

Pretty impressive to me that you kept the car all this time Nick. Does your wife have the same affection towards the car? I'm sure she has to have many memories of your past life experiences shared between you both with the 69. It would be interesting to see how many members here bought there 67-68-69 SS car new,and still have it.

She sure does "Man". Would not let Me sell it when finances were tight. I ordered it and got delivery on Dec.23,1968 in a snow storm. Drove it to Daytona 500 from Pa. Met Her in a hospital, senior year in Nursing School. Parents hated Me, picked Her up in Philadelphia on weekends on South Street. Married in May,1971, lead car with a 1966 427 super sport 2nd car and 1967 Super sport and all Chevrolets in procession burning rubber for an hour. Went to many concerts and parties. Ran a lot of street races and stop lights. I put a Hurst in it right away. Put a 327 in it during the gas crunch. It was the family car, until We had 4 Kids. The 2 oldest Girls would stand on the back seat and hold onto the head rests. It is being restored now, a long deserved rest. NICK L72
