Bill,
On the contrary. Shaun has gone out of his way to help resolve my gas sender problem...and I hope other guys will read this who were wondering about his 'reputation'.
I've read your "dissertation" - took a little while to absorb it - and I'm thinking that maybe you should send copies to Sheila Rempel and Don Keefe. I too have wondered about the judging methods (my '68 is to be in a 'modified' class??) and the day-to-day "handling" of the cars. Thanks for your thoughts/analysis.

I am not questioning his reputation, used to see him all the time at Goodguys in Scottsdale, even went as far as driving to his place to reach him last year, no answer no returns calls or anything, I finally deleted his contact, no sure what the issue is, but know of others wanting to reach him and cannot.
As far as my "dissertation" I am not an professional writer, just thought it was odd and again, most all volunteers there was over the top nice and kind, and maybe it is too much work to get all so many changes or even part of them, but it seemed nobody that matters wanted to hear change? (just an observation)
Just makes plain sense, if you want people to get involved, get them involved in Judging, I realize some are there to party and are past the "I want to make my car better thing" when we quit learning we whither (If that's the word)
And how much better could it be to be with the experts during a Judging of (NOT your car, but other) for instance what this guy did is in-correct, but could of been a "Fix" that was done at the dealer later, nuances of what could be right and wrong, and although the assembly book is a guide, it does not mean it necessarily happen at all plants.
It is just my opinion, open discussion thoughts and will admit, although a long time member, I am not as active as I would like due to health issues within my family, but made it a priority to make the 50th anniversary of the 67 Impala / B-Body, too me it works when everyone gets involved, not just a few and to hear this is how we do it. (Period) Too me it is a closed mind, just trying to stir the minds that care.
On another note my car is mostly 67 correct in appearance, but nowhere close to the original build sheet it has, slowly working on period correct SS427 parts, most in hand, it will never be one, but going from a 283 pg a/c p/s car to an SS427 4 speed klohne or clone, re-creation, or whatever
(Thanks to Warren, that is a complement btw ) some prior owner won't be able to sell it as one, mine is a Doraville car so no codes on the tag below the paint code, all is on build sheet is in the left Qrt arm rest and the POP in glove box, I just want one I can drive and enjoy, and look somewhat correct, not to look at in a trailer or pull it out only at a show, so the numbers game goes away, (just hope the funds hold out till I get it finished)
I am usually long winded because I want to heard in every detail I can think of and yes it will take time to "absorb", and hope other comment on it as well.
I spoke to Don K. about it at the convention, but he was pretty busy, and I get it, it was his first convention with the NIA, I am sure he will hear about it, Sometimes you need to come in the back door, I also posted my "dissertation", (NOT manifesto ) on "Chevy Talk" in all of the Impala forums to 79? remember this is my opinion not a criticism Board is slow, so thought I might get some thoughts and ideas.

I hate to charm in here but as a member and a car enthusiast I just have to put my two cents in. I am one of those that own a trailer queen (original owner of a 67 Impala Z-24) I hear "I have to drive mine" all the time when I'm at a car show. My response is this: I drove the heck out of this car when it was new, it was the only car I had( I was 19). It was a work car, a cruise car, race car,and a car I went on dates with. Once again "it was my only car"and I drove it in all kids of weather. There came a time in my life that I wanted to save a piece of history, I wanted to provided a car for people to see and enjoy, to let them tell their stories and allow them to reflect back in the day so I made up my mind I was going to do my very best with the help of others to give people something to look at and enjoy. I tried to do my best to make my car and keep it as a bench mark when it came to 67 Impala,ss,427. At MCACN last fall the car scored a 996 out of 1000 but it only did that with the help of a lot of people sharing their knowledge. My car was restored in a two car garage with the help of my best friend. A few years back I received the best award I could have ever received while at MCACN showing in the original owners class. After being judged the two judges came over to me and said "we want you to know this is the best home restoration we have even seen".It don't get any better than that! I didn't drop off my car at a shop to have it restored, I did it my self with the help of friends. The only thing I didn't do was the paint. As for judging,I have put on a car show here in Ohio for the past 14 years. It is open to all years and makes and all proceeds go to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Over the years I have found out you cant make every one happy when it comes to judging trust me. I have been involved in some of the toughest judging over the years with my cars. Goodguys,(won muscle car of the year finalist 4 separate times)Super Chevy,(in the gold class) MCAN,4 gold) and two different NIA National shows. I have to say each and every time the judges did their best to be fair and even allowed me (at times when asked) to justify why a item in question was the way it was. The Dayton Nationals will be coming up very soon, lets give the guys putting on the show a chance and see if we can make it the best ever! 59fins, I respect your opinion and you have brought up some valid points but lets not through water on a show that hasnt taken place yet. Have a great week,Ron.H
