Two nice l 72's

Looking around on the web and came across these two 1969 l72's. Wish there was a way to add them to the picture gallery on this site.

1 phony L72 Impala SS427 car. I researched the blue one. The engine is not original High Performance. It has oval heads on it and manifold. A lot of mistakes also. NICK L72

The blue one clearly has a cast iron intake manifold and does not have deep groove pulleys. Not an L72. Nice looking car, but misrepresented. Hope the buyer realized that.

I believe that's the original protecto plate to the gold car but I think the engine pad is a restamp. Vin should be down by the oil filter on a St Louis car from what I've seen.

The blue one could have been an L72 originally but hard to prove unless it has has the original trans.

Nick - what part of your "research" shows the 270 block and 840 heads in the gold car are not original or high performance? The block casting number and date are perfect for the car's build date (very difficult to fake with such a short casting run- August to October and this one was built in Sept) which matches LS code on the original the protect o plate.

LD is the suffix for L72 with standard trans. LS is with 400 auto trans. NICK L72

Nick , there are 2 other suffix codes for L72
MD is L72 with manual and HD Clutch
LS is L72 with T400

You are right. I lost My Chevy by the Numbers The block is stamped LS, with a 400 trans. NICK L72

Gotta love that dual snorkel air cleaner with the thermal vac switches ,,,and the exhaust run inside the frame rails,,,right against the fuel tank.

The only thing 'L72' on that blue car is the sticker on the air cleaner lid. Schmitt has had that car for sale for many years.
