69 Motion "Street racer Special"

These cars mention "bolt on traction bars". You can see them,kinda,on the cover picture. They look similar to the old Chevelle bars that were available some time back. Anyone have any photos or possible info on these?

That's my car on the website.
Motion Performance used NMW weld-on
ladder bars.

Thanks Rich,I've chatted with you before. This is my most lusted after car ever! Do you know if those bars are welded to the axle housing? If you ever have the car on a rack,I'd love to see some pictures of the ladder bar set up. Thanks for responding. Man,what an awesome car!!!!

Yes,
Fully welded to the axle housing and to
perches welded to the frame. pretty sloppy
job but typical of what I have seen from
Motion on other cars.

Rich, do you ever have this car out to shows? I would love to check it out sometime. Seen a 68 Motion Biscayne but never a 69.

Haven't been to a show in a few years.
Planning on participating next year!
69 B/M cars are quite scarce. I do know of
another one with a th400 though.

I saw a lot of cars with those on. That is a strip car, My SS427 Impala was a street car. Excellent traction and I didn't have a rear sway bar with M21 and 373 posi. I am adding a hotter cam and headers with sway bar and adjustable shocks with a dual pumper. I wonder if they used roller rockers and changed the valve springs. Chevrolet changed a lot of springs for Me and even a ring job during the 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. It still burned a lot of OIL. I guess I over revved it too much and did not brake it in. Too much fun on the Street though. Rebuilding it after 50,000 miles with Comp cams parts. At least Mine goes around the corners and is Le-mans Blue. NICK L72

Thanks Donny! I'm getting a bezel from Chad. It's the sheet metal retainer underneath the bezel that I'm looking for...Chad thought that Tim might have one. I'll probably just make one anyway. Steve

I may have another one left Steve. Geoff in Canada wants one also. I just haven't had time to dig out my "stash box" since I moved. I also need to ship a fan shroud to Keith in New Mexico. Business travel is starting to slow down,,I promise I'll look soon. Sorry for the slow response.

I remember seeing a '68 Biscayne post for sale back around the late 70's around the Hamilton, Ontario, Canada area. It was black but painted white underneath and had ladder bars that looked like barn trusses that extended forward to what seemed to be in line with the front of the rear seat base. It had skinny Cragars up front & steam roller Cragars out back, plus a hood scoop that was a dead ringer for a Hemi Dart. Of course it was a built 427 4-speed with impractical gearing out back.
Back then one used to see for sale a lot of thrashed street cars or some tasty strip cars based on factory musclecars. Numbers-matching was nice but few gave a care and just ran whatever they had. Finding a freshly wrecked musclecar with a hopped-up power-train to donate whatever was salvageable was no problem. I'm sure thousands of Impalas donated 427s.

Oh, to go back in time with cash, a connected dealer & an order sheet. I envision a '69 Biscayne with an L-72, M22 and an MA6 Dual-Disk Clutch (which would delay and ultimately mean modifying or canceling the order, but one can dream). Or Baldwin-Motion could set you up (or Central Chev-Olds in London or Gorries in Toronto, or any of the dozens of speed shops around any given city back then).

Cameron, That is exactly what happened with my car. The original owner worked at Buick Assembly in Flint Michigan and being a savvy street racer and track regular he ordered this weapon. No power steering, non power drum brakes, M22 and L72. Car only has 11,000 original miles and is now out prowling your streets in Hamilton.

Marc, what an awesome, stripped-down, go-fast machine! It appears to be Burnished Brown or a sort of a flattened black, is it?
I grew up near Hamilton in Ancaster but have lived in Toronto since the mid-80s. I do remember a Frost Green '69 Biscayne in Ancaster circa 1975 that was a 427 car and was rolling on 5-spoke Appliance Mags. Repainted generic apple green in '76, I assumed that the Frost Green 427 Biscayne I saw a picture of in Brantford was the same car. It isn't, as the Brantford car still has original paint and the Carter Chevrolet emblem on the trunk
Circa 1980 I also saw a black '69 427 Biscayne at Trinity Road between Ancaster & Lynden at a body shop & also incorrectly assumed it might have been that same Frost Green Biscayne first seen around '75 (but it wasn't the same car).
Marc, you are in Burlington, correct? I remember at least 3 different big block '66 Biscayne posties for sale in Burlington around 1980, all with 4-speeds & Corvette Rally Wheels.

Wish I could Glenn, but the guy doing the sheet metal and paint and I are not speaking anymore ! The plan was to prime the car in a flat paint in Burnished Brown. While the metal work is first rate, when I took delivery the hood and trunk lid were a slightly different color. So over the winter, I left them with the painter to respray and they came back exactly the same. Turns out they are correct and the rest of the car is off! I believe he sprayed a flat clear over the paint to give it the look. Just temporary until I can afford to paint the car.

No F41, but remote fill factory air shocks. We think the line may have been split to preload the right rear.
