Hey guys, quick question. Is it possible on a L-L paint code for this car to come out with a black interior rather than a Teal interior? Picked this girl up recently and someone liked black better than Teal Blue. I cannot find any evidence that the interior has ever been anything but black. I can however see Teal up in the fender wells and in the trunk area. I'm hoping to find a build sheet. See ya down the road, Gregg

I wouldn’t rule out a mis- built vehicle. When I sold cars in the nineties, I saw an f-150 come in painted black when the window sticker and data plate both called for bronze. Once at model year end , a Crown Victoria was delivered new with a Grand Marquis interior

I really like the car. Aren't you in Oklahoma? Traveled the state 20 years and lived in Broken Arrow.

Decoding your Trim Tag according to Colvin's, your car is Dark Teal (LL) exterior with Teal (862) interior. Someone before you liked black.

I wished they would've left it Teal. The Teal interior on these cars looks awesome in '68.

Not sure I understand the question. I suspect you could have ordered the black interior with a teal blue exterior. However, with the 862 code on the trim tag, the interior was originally teal, not black.

Thanks for the input. Agreed. It makes sense the interior would've been Teal.

Black interior was available with every exterior color, it was the interior colors other than black that had restrictions.
Nice car by the way.
Back in '68 when I was in grade 1 I used to ride a school bus past a house that had what I thought was a '68 Impala Super Sport. The car was actually just an Impala Custom coupe that had been repainted (as a new car)in a metallic orange and had 1965-66 Super Sport nameplates on the front fenders. For a couple of years I thought that was how the Super Sport was in '68, that is until a proper Z03 Impala Sport Coupe showed up in the school's parking lot with the proper grille, fender & trunk emblems & the unique interior. I didn't even know about the unique SS-427 until around 1980.
