While it does appear to be a pretty well done car, it certainly is not correct or real in any way. How do they estimate a $60K-$80K sale price? I don't watch or follow the auctions and am curious. I see $25K tops, am I wrong?

The wagon is well done. It is a performance vehicle with some of the top drag racers autographing it. The name "Lingenfelter " will draw a large following. Those bidders only look at the resale. Most could care less how it drives. I think They buy bragging rights. It looks like a cheap wagon, no wheel well moldings or SS grille. I would like to see the papers that prove it. It does have a special suspension which they could have added. They probably have $75,000.00 or better invested. Let Them spend Their money. NICK L72

A beautiful Impala wagon. A harness hanging down from under left dash. Could not get it inspected in PA.The exhaust can not exit rear because the fumes would come in with the window open. NICK L72

I'm not an expert at all, but the badging on this car looks wrong. Also, if it was ordered SS wouldn't it have the SS steering wheel and door panels as well? Not to mention the SS dash plate. This is no doubt a nice imaginary tribute car. JMO See ya down the road. Gregg

Another car that someone stuck on SS badges and calls it a Super Sport. Center console? looks like one from J C Whitney. Where's the Bucket seats?. Nice wagon with a 396 , tilt wheel, Speed Minder etc. Don S

Hal. How are You doing? Like I said, The buyers at auctions only see the cosmetic aspect of things.The owner says it is a 427, It could be a 402 with 2 bolt mains and bored over. I would want the receipts and parts lists. They just have money to burn. My car could could sell for around $100,000.00 if I did a frame off and restored it to original. I will never sell it so I do not care. It has the original receipt, pop, and color. It will look like original except for the wheels and tires and original suspension. I put Mickey Thompson wheels on it after 69 winter was over. I still have them. NICK L72

Nick, it's a 396 and they clearly state that. I think you are mistaken about bidders at the auctions. At the numerous Mecum auctions I have attended, people in the staging lanes that intend to bid look the cars over very well. Checking casting numbers and using their smart phones to get educated. On custom and modified cars, not so much. For reference, the beautiful '69 L-72, rock crusher, documented Biscayne got up to $80K. $100K might be a stretch for your car.

It is not a 1 owner car. I have an M21, considered ordering an M22, but Too noisey for daily driver. I have original blue wheels and stock hub caps barely used. Impala L72 SS427 Sport Coupes, Le-mans blue with 373 gears, and stereo multiplex radio, with auxilary lighting are rare. $100,000.00 is what I think it is worth. I have over $80,000.00 in it now and not done. Will not sell it. NICK L72
