1969 Biscayne 427/425

Looking for picture of 1969 underside showing exhaust system, specifically tailpipes for 427/425 big car.

Don't waste you time with Gardner. Did a lot of wheel spinning with them only to listen to Eric gloat about how good he is and nothing to back it up. That company took a major hit when Mr. Gardner Sr. died. Eric (his son) has nowhere near the business aptitude his father did. I've had personal experience with examples of this.

My recommendation would be Waldron Exhaust in Michigan. I have personal experience with them and it's almost all very good. I'm pretty picky and for me to recommend them is a tall order. Nothing out there is perfect but John Waldron knows how to bend pipes......... And if he makes a mistake he stands behind it.

If you cannot locate factory reference or depiction, contact Gardner Exhaust, Long Island, N.Y. From what I was advised by owner when ordering a set for my 69 Biscayne, they had pattern system from Donny B. I had requested 2.5 inch set of piping which Gardner fabricated which fit as perfect as you can hope for! As you may know the L-72 equipped cars had tail pipes exit from behind rear wheels.

I have a sat of Huth bending cards to bend the system. Huth uses outside degree wheel bending,,Ben Pearson uses inside degree wheel bending. I can chase them up if you know a shop with an old white haired guy,,like most of us are,,that still remembers bending exhaust. I bent a set of tails some years back,they exit behind the wheel kinda like a wagon tail pipe,but I chose to bend a left and a right set that mirror the 327 single tail,dump behind the tires,less conspicuous and hidden.

I contacted Gardner and was told they didn't do '69 exiting at rear of wheel. Interesting on the bend cards. I know some older guys still bending exhausts.

Hopefully Donny will see this and chime in, but I'm pretty sure that his old '69 SS427 that I have now was used as a mule for the exhaust system supplied to Gardner.

I'd be interested in a complete L72 exhaust as well. Gardner told me they only make a 1968 system,not 1969

Donny's car is a 68. The exhaust is basically the same. All exhaust manifolds exit at the same place. The L72 tail pipes are easy to make and exit the same as a 327 without resonators. They were 2 1/4 inch with the tails being 2 1/2.The pipe curves to the outside and a hanger supports it from the frame. The pipe then curves back at an angle to exit behind the wheel. My pipes were cut at a slant on the bottom. They stuck out past the quarter panel, and were easily seen. The long pipes extended to the rear of the car and exited under the side of the rear quarter.
