question-- I have a 68 impala convertible I want to take the tach dash out of-- is the wiring compatible to swap clusters with a idiot light dash? or does the whole harness have to stay with the tach dash?

As Don said, the wiring is all different. Dash, engine and forward lamp. Why are you removing the tach dash may I ask?

The harnesses are different, there are 3 extra wires on the plug that goes to the cluster and I believe some common wires are in different positions on that plug. When I converted to tach dash, I replace the whole harness. The engine and front light harnesses are different too. Don S
