HEI conversion to 7000RPM tach

Hi.. I want install HEI in my 66 BB Impala. The car has a points distributor now.
Will my in das Tach work or do I need a filter to make it work?

The factory tachs very seldom, if ever read an HEI distributor. You will need a tach filter or new internals for it to read the HEI.

Hi Casper. I hooked many a tach to HEI. Take the + wire from the coil and attach it to the tach connection and have someone watch the Tach. Dash tachs are made to read the resistance to give You the RPMs. After market tachs need different wires for the number of cylinders it is used on. Better ignition with the HEI. NICK L72
