I really didn't put it very well. But teams get paid by car results not driver results. In many ways, the drivers are after thoughts. They are robots who are supposed to drive their pre-programmed races perfectly. Its all about the car and it's race strategy and not at all about sending drivers out in equal cars to see who's best. That whole concept is lost on the vast majority of NASCAR fans as it is so different and they tend to be somewhat unsophisticated in their fandom. Teams like Red Bull and Mercedes spend over 1 million dollars a day on developing their cars. Its incredible.
