but for about the last 4 or 5 days in Southeast Michigan we've been getting hit with violent thunderstorms, the occasional tornado, and very high winds. With this being Grand Prix weekend in Detroit for the INDY Car Series the forecast doesn't look for tomorrow. THe forecast for Saturday is temps in the low 80s, high humidity with scattered thunderstorms, but for Sunday the forecast is partly cloudy with temps closer to 70 degrees. This is the first race for the INDY Car Series' new experiment where they're going to have an actual points paying INDY Race on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. I hope they get a break in the weather, and everything turns out well. I remember last year that right near the end of the Grand Am Sports Car Series race on Saturday it started pouring, and we had to walk back to our cars in the rain, and on Sunday right near the end of the INDY Car race it started pouring and we had to walk back to our cars in the rain. Did I mention I didn't buy tickets for this year's Grand Prix? The way they have the course set up on Belle Isle no matter where you sit you can see no more than 200 to 300 feet of the track. It takes about 5 seconds for the lead pack of cars to go by you, and then you sit there for a minute watching the water go by on the Detroit River, and here comes the cars for another 5 seconds. I'll watch on TV this year. |
