see my cut and paste went awry. I was adding about doing it myself...I was forced into with how the local bike shops are. Some sell these bikes but cant maintain parts of them. Most times they send out the fork to Rock Shox for the rebuilds. Or take forever to do the work. One time in the shop I got the bike...they are bs'ing the whole time I'm there. I tell the main guy the front rotor needs to be swapped out as Specialized said only the shop can get the new rotor to do the TSB. He wanted to keep the bike for FOUR days. I'm like...wtf dude...its FIVE bolts holding it down...took me 20 seconds to remove it last time! Give me the new one and let me do it. Nope...he said they had to do it and its four days. So I told my wife...I better learn how to rebuild the shock and the fork when they need maintenance. The shock was very easy...just needed to be sure it wasn't in what they call reverse suck down or it wont be pretty when you take it apart. The fork was a lot hard to do though just changing the oil wasn't to bad. For sure get that done after the first 6 months...the oil does get dirty and you don't want to wear out those bushings/sleeves. |
