one of the broadcasts this weekend and the question was raised to Larry Mac about running his son. Was the strategy quantity or quality. Larry said by far quality. Unfortunately the four drivers you mentioned have opted for quantity. They are basically in a catch 22. They want to keep their names out their, but running in the back may be sending the wrong message in the long run. Both Larry and Andy agreed that people only see the 25th place finish not the fact that you did it in a 40th place car. A number of owners have a good eye for talent, but many times they also have to convince a sponsor, and that can be hard to do, especially if you already have a long history of running 25th. Most company marketing folks have no idea what they are looking for, but they can look up stats and they get concerned when an owner says trust me this guy can do better in my cars. They would rather take a chance on a driver with less track record, but better finishes. They don't understand that those 8th and 9th place finishes were in a first place car.
